Type A The Optimist
Great! Is there a new opportunity?
Hears "let's talk" and thinks good news first. Change looks like opportunity.
Sis’s InsightAn optimistic read brings courage and openness to change. Just don't set expectations too high too soon. Hear your boss out first, and you'll be ready for good news or bad.
Type B The Self-Checker
What did I do wrong?
The first instinct is to look inward. Highly responsible, but quick to blame themselves.
Sis’s InsightLooking inward first shows real responsibility, but it also makes your brain magnify every flaw. Remind yourself that "let's talk" doesn't mean "you messed up." Walking in with questions helps more than walking in with guilt.
Type C The Worrier
Oh no… is something bad coming?
The alarm goes off early. The worst-case script is written before they even walk in.
Sis’s InsightIt's called catastrophizing: when information is missing, the brain assumes the worst to protect you. Write the worry down and ask, "What's the actual evidence?" The anxiety usually shrinks.
Type D The Observer
I'll observe, gather information, and think it through first.
No rush to conclusions. Get the facts, then decide how to respond.
Sis’s InsightHolding off on conclusions is mature emotional management. Just don't let "gathering information" turn into endless guessing. The fastest route is often to simply ask, "What would you like to talk about?"
